DEPARTMENT OF RHEUMATOLOGY
The department of rheumatology at Sant Parmanand Hospital provides a full range of clinical rheumatology services for patients with various musculo-skeletal diseases. This entails consultation with a senior rheumatologist for the clinical evaluation of the problem and the provision of a complete range of diagnostic services, including blood tests, radiology services including bone densitometry and CT scan facilities; plus a well-equipped physiotherapy department. Once a diagnosis is established, facilities exist for a full range of therapeutic options for various inflammatory joint and connective tissue diseases. This includes appropriate treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, including the use of biological agents if required and treatment of various connective tissuedisorders with specific treatment modalities. Facilities are also available for a complete range of intra-articular and soft-tissue injections as specific treatment modalities.

Patients requiring a rheumatology evaluation for their joint/musculo-skeletal complaints are requested to make an appointment with the consultant rheumatologist by phoning the hospital reception. Particular symptoms that might prompt a rheumatology consultation are: Joint pain with swelling and stiffness; unexplained fever, skin rash and joint pains; established conditions such as- Rheumatoid arthritis, Systemic lupus erythematosus, Gout, Ankylosing spondylitis.
